Resiliency – Do You Bounce?

by Lisa

Resiliency. I think it’s something we’re born with. It’s ours to use and develop. It’s the ability to bounce back after a defeat. Or to successfully adapt to unplanned change. Resiliency is key to navigating midlife reinvention.

If you’re resilient, you’re likely to possess a positive demeanor. You make lemonade out of those lemons!

If you’ve ever lost the feeling of being resilient (it happens to us all), how do you get it back?

Well, first, being resilient means a bit more than just making lemonade from those lemons. Personally, I like to make the lemonade, then plant the seeds to make even more lemons, then I take the rinds of the lemons and put them in the trash compactor to keep it smelling fresh and then I . . . You get the point. The same way we have to stretch sometimes to make a bad day a little better, we should do the same when things are already going well. Always take it a little further than *just enough*. In that way, I find, when I am feeling a bit less bounce-backable than usual, I’ve already planted the seeds (just like with those lemons) for future positivity to assist with that resilience.

Good post, Lisa ~ concise but thoughtful.
